Congratulations Dragons!!!
The 2008 Metro League Championship Meet will be held at Linden High School on Tuesday, 10/14. With the construction at Byram Park, the Linden teams have created a cross country course right on their school grounds. Most of the course actually runs through the land near the Middle School, so spectators are advised to park in the Middle School parking lots.
The Dragons, as well as other teams in the league, were given an opportunity to preview the course on 10/12. The course has two loops, takes runners through wooded trails and up two steep climbs. While challenging, the course is manageable. The real challenge will come with the competition among the runners. The boys enter the the final meet alone in second place behind Linden. A victory in this meet would give them a share of the title. The girls enter the final meet tied for third with Linden and just one win back from Holly and Brandon. With a win the Dragons could earn a share of the title or an outright championship, depending how the other schools fare. Of course in a race this tight, with all four schools preparing to win, the outcome is far from predetermined.
The race schedule is as follows: Boys Varsity 4:30pm, Girls Varsity 5:00pm, and All JV 5:30pm. Originally, seperate boys and girls races were planned but due to safety issues with daylight, they will be run together. Our bus to Linden will leave the school at 2:45 sharp. Go Creek!
Four of our team members are on the latest area honor roll published in the Flint Journal. They are among good company as the list contains some of the best runners in the state as well. Congratulations!
